Starz Tool: Galleries - enhanced web storage (new DigitalBrain tool exclusive to Cambridgeshire)

Outline:

The new galleries system creates secure online storage spaces for individual children, classes, schools, school clusters or the whole county, where work in any electronic format may be kept and/or displayed. It also provides tools for approved users to post comments about a piece of work.

Any age range or level of ability.

A few potential uses:

  •  individual portfolio of child's work that can build up during their school career and can be viewed at school or home
  •  saving work that can be accessed or continued at home
  •   celebrating achievements by creating class or school galleries containing work from many children (capable of being made public on the internet, if required)
  •  submission of work to county-wide projects

  •  peer review of work or critical thinking about a piece of writing, artwork etc

Management:

Any number of galleries may be created by/for an individual child, a class, a school.

All still pictures, audio recordings and videos made with the enhanced webmail tools are automatically stored in image, audio and video galleries

Internet safety:

Any gallery can be private to a selected individual or group of people with DigitalBrain accounts, or can be made publicly viewable on the web.

Support and training:

Documentation on using the system will be available online.

In addition, briefing sessions for the portal projects that will be using the gallery facility, will also include an introduction to its use.

In-school training for individual schools or clusters can be provided at the usual consultancy rates.
