Outline:
The new galleries system
creates secure online storage spaces for individual children, classes,
schools, school clusters or the whole county, where work in any electronic
format may be kept and/or displayed. It also provides tools for approved
users to post comments about a piece of work.
Suitable for:
Any age range or level of ability.
A few potential uses:
- individual portfolio of child's work that can build
up during their school career and can be viewed at school or home
- saving work that can be accessed or continued at
home
- celebrating achievements by creating class or
school galleries containing work from many children (capable of being
made public on the internet, if required)
- submission of work to county-wide projects
- peer review of work or critical thinking about
a piece of writing, artwork etc
Management:
Any number of galleries may be created by/for an individual
child, a class, a school.
All still pictures, audio recordings and videos made
with the enhanced webmail tools are automatically stored in image, audio
and video galleries
Internet safety:
Any gallery can be private to a selected individual
or group of people with DigitalBrain accounts, or can be made publicly
viewable on the web.
Support and training:
Documentation on using the system will be available
online.
In addition, briefing sessions for the portal projects
that will be using the gallery facility, will also include an introduction
to its use.
In-school training for individual schools or clusters
can be provided at the usual consultancy rates. |

On 15 March 2005, the Department for Education
and Skills published the e-Strategy 'Harnessing Technology: Transforming
learning and children's services'.

interactive technologies to achieve a more personalised approach within
all areas of education and children's services. It is an ambitious strategy
covering all sectors for the next five years and beyond
